This latest release features a wide, smooth profile! It starts as old, mature leaf having deep-ribbed/veined, spike-tipped leaves. This leaf actually has a vein color that's not quite red, but not yellow either. It's orange-veined! Every now and then we will see this vein color in particular harvests, always a special profile that everyone likes! The curing method is a mix of fast-cured, medium-cured, and slow-cured leaf, creating a perfect wide profile. On the nose, the dry powder has similarities to our GVMD "M4", as there is a scent of Juicy Fruit gum and Smarties candy, but with a richer, sugary undertone, some citrus notes, and a scent almost like rising bread at the beginning of baking. The scent also reminds of amarula liqueur. On the palate, the dry powder has an initial bold and dry, yet sugary sharp bite with some bitterness that mellows out somewhat quickly, leaving a slight dry finish with some. There is a hint of aged teak wood. Mixed in water, OVMD is very smooth and pleasant, with no significant bitterness, and only a slightly dry initial palate, making it very easy-going in water!
